The Membrana Film Festival presents a second selection of short films from around the world. Let us take you on a curated journey across narrative, documentary, and animation.
These films are heavy, with deep and important messaging, and are a reflection on lived experiences from different corners of the planet. And we are honoured to present several UK Premieres within this screening session.
Highlights include Sofiane, based on the tragic true story of Sofiane Ouggad, and selected for the Oscar-qualifying Odense International Film Festival, as well as winning Best Short Film and Best Actress at several festivals. We also have Ker, that won the Jury Prize at Thurrock International Film Festival, and A Mother’s Love that won Best Foreign Short at the San Diego Movie Awards. Kev is a very important documentary that focuses on the blind community of Manchester, that has also had a strong festival run.
To lighten the tone, we finish the session with Mierda, a comedy from Spain that has been shown at festivals all over the planet.
