Membrana Film Festival: Shorts From Around The World
Membrana is the Latin word for film, and we are incredibly excited to bring the Membrana
Film Festival to you, and to dig deep into the roots of the magic that is filmmaking.
Our opening session presents a selection of short films from around the world, curated to
take you on a journey. And we are honoured to present several UK Premieres within this
screening session.
We open with the tender and beautifully shot Astronauta, a drama set in the Guatemelan
jungle, that was nominated for Best Short Film at this year’s highly respected Italian David
De Donatello Awards.
The programme also features the sci-fi film Gosei, the genre and mind-bending Solitarius,
and the horror film Listen which was selected for the highly regarded Oscar-qualifying Sitges
Film Festival. The programme also features 2 animated films in The Last Advice, and Sana,
a thought-provoking coming of age story that blends stop-motion and 3D animation, that was
also selected for Sitges.
We finish with 2 visually striking films in Bartogay Lake, and Faces, a WWI film that was the
winner of Best Short Film and Best Production Design at the Misty Flicks Film Festival.
