After screening many short animated films throughout the first three years of GASP!, this year, they’re showing their first ever animated feature film! Fox & the Tiny Demon is a film filled with heart that tackles important themes whilst taking its viewer on an adventure with two utterly adorable and loveable characters. It’s the first animated feature film in the Wolastoqey language and created with the purpose of opening the conversation on mental health for audiences of various ages, GASP! are so proud to be screening this fantastic animated blend of fantasy and horror!
Film Synopsis: Fox & the Tiny Demon is an animated allegory about Qaqsoss, a fox
who is haunted by Wahantuhsis, a tiny demon. Set in an enchanted forest, the
film explores themes of mental illness, trauma, and generational pain through
Qaqsoss' struggles with both her inner demons and the mischievous demon
that follows her. As Qaqsoss faces her fears, she discovers resilience and
growth. Ultimately, the story intertwines Indigenous culture and personal
experience, showcasing the importance of self-healing and the understanding
of others. The film, told in Wolastoqey, is a poignant exploration of survival
and connection.
