The third in a year-long series of feature and short film screenings presented by Obscure Film at Cultplex in 2026!
This special screening will present the personal copy of a feature by Lizzie Borden, director of many films featuring women in the centre who are otherwise pushed to the margins: sex workers, anarchists, collectivists, poets, journalists, artists. Her daring 1980s films are highly prescient and the themes and imagery only grow more relevant to the current media driven moment, with some extremely eerie echoes across her works to events of more recent times. Her films show a deep understanding of power, sex, gender, and survival, with lots of humour and excellent soundtracks.
Don’t miss the chance to see this surprise film and hear from Lizzie herself in a special virtual introduction.
