This May, we’re getting a "rom-zom-com" that is equal parts heart, guts, and... well, stink. Here’s the lowdown on the indie horror-comedy that’s about to make "till death do us part" look like a loose suggestion.
Directed by and starring the fearless Grace Glowicki, Dead Lover follows a lonely gravedigger who has spent so much time elbow-deep in the deceased that she permanently smells like a funeral home. She finally hits the jackpot and finds her dream guy, only for him to immediately go and drown at sea. (Talk about bad luck.) Naturally, instead of going to therapy, she turns to mad science. What follows is a chaotic, "Stink-O-Vision" journey of grief, DIY resurrection, and the messy consequences of trying to stitch a boyfriend back together. It’s basically Amélie if she had a lab coat and a total disregard for the laws of nature.
