Spit in the Lock presents: Drowning By Numbers
Spit in the Lock is a Manchester based film club that screens films that depict the exquisite ache of unrequited yearning. Catch us across the city showing movies that explore the melancholic, romantic longing of forbidden love.
Written and directed by Peter Greenaway, most known for The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, and filmed by Sacha Vierny, collaborator of Alain Resnais and Luis Bunuel,
Drowning by Numbers follows three women, all named Cissie Colpitts (played by Juliet Stevenson, Joan Plowright, and Joely Richardson, respectively). Each woman drowns their husbands in copy-cat like mysteries and get away with it - thanks to the help of local coroner Madgett (Bernard Hill). A darkly comic, intricately designed, and delightful puzzle of a film, this is a must-watch for any fans of Wes Anderson, Yorgos Lanthimos, baroque art, and absurdism.
This screening is 18+ and the film will begin at the advertised time above.
