Aftersun

Everyone can relate to feeling nostalgic and homesick for a memory. Charlotte Wells bundled up those exact feelings and packaged them into Aftersun, her first feature film and the winner of the French Touch Jury Prize at the Cannes 2022 Critics’ Week.

Aftersun follows a young father, Calum (played by Paul Mescal), and his 11-year-old daughter, Sophie (newcomer Frankie Corio), who are spending a week-long holiday in Turkey. Calum doesn’t live in Scotland with the rest of her family and Sophie treasures the time they get to spend together.

The holiday is framed through the perspective of present-day Sophie (Celia Rowlson-Hall), who reflects on the shared joy and private melancholy of the trip she took twenty years earlier.

Aftersun is a hazy reminiscence, a depiction of a child trying and failing to fully know a parent.

Don't miss Aftersun on the big screen in celebration of female filmmakers during this year’s International Women’s Day weekend!

All of our screenings are 18+ unless otherwise stated, the film starts at the advertised time above.
