Raw
No one does extremism in cinema like the French and Raw is no exception. One screening at Toronto Film Festival caused multiple members of the audience to pass out and paramedics were called TWICE!
This is the debut feature from writer and director Julia Ducournau and stars Garance Marillier as Justine, a lifelong vegetarian who experiences her first taste of meat at veterinary school and develops a craving for human flesh. An instant contemporary classic, for those that can stomach it, Raw is deliciously gruesome and gore-filled – famously requiring paramedics to turn up at preview screenings for all the fainters.
