“Roar feels like Walt Disney decided to make a snuff version of ‘Swiss Family Robinson."
Tippi Hedren famously suffered on the set of The Birds (1963), but that clearly wasn’t enough as just a few years later she and her husband Noel Marshall would embark on another animal-based project that almost resulted in total disaster: Roar (1981), the most dangerous film ever made.
A tale of survival on the African savannah; whilst no animals were harmed in the making of the film, 70 members of the cast and crew were!
Synopsis:
A naturalist living with big cats in East Africa expects a visit by his family of four from Chicago. A mix-up leaves him searching for his family, who have been left in the clutches of wild lions.
