Slump Cinema will be screening Drylongso, with an introduction from Rhian Parker at CULTPLEX.
They are incredibly grateful to be hosting our first Manchester screening at CULTPLEX. As a growing community cinema, this feels like a significant milestone for them, and they're excited to share it with you!
Drylongso is a mystery, coming of age, slice of life drama, and a celebration of community. It follows Pica, our adorable protagonist, who begins photographing Black men and boys in her neighbourhood for a school project as they are increasingly being killed and disappearing from her community.
This film is so deeply moving and it offers reflection on race and class while reminding us of the strength that can be found in kindness and friendship.
We hope you love it as much as we do.
CULTPLEX opens from 6pm, with the introduction and screening starting at 7pm. You're very welcome to join any time between then to grab a drink, get settled, and spend some time with Slump Cinema before the film begins.
This screening of Drylongso is licensed through TAPE Collective, a film exhibition and distribution company dedicated to giving platform to films by filmmakers from the global majority. They're incredibly grateful for the work they do in helping bring films to community audiences like ours, and Slumo Cinema delighted to be able to share Drylongso with you.
All of our screenings are 18+ unless otherwise stated, and the film start time is as advertised above.
